There are several kinds of UPS, generally we are common, there are two kinds of backup and online.

Back-up models, usually the cheapest ones, are very cheap. They do have a time-out when switching, with a switching time of 2-10mS, but it is not a problem. Most devices that require UPS can tolerate this short switching time because the power supply has a capacitor inside.

Online type, is always working, most of those expensive long-acting machine, and basically are positive basalt wave, this has no switching time, because the working mode is always working in AC to DC to the battery, and then to a mode of AC, no matter the external connection is not connected, the internal is the inverter form of power supply, no switching time.
